the proverbs of hannah

Well, it's been awhile! I don't really know what to post while I'm at school... the people that are interested already know! If I come up with some profound thoughts, I'll blog. In the meantime, don't expect much. ;)
But I wrote a cool paper for Bible today. The teacher always asks for creative assignments, and for this one we are supposed to look at the Decalogue (the 10 commandments) and a section of Proverbs which sort of interprets the commandments, then interpret the 10 commandments through our own college experience-based proverbs. Here are mine! Enjoy!

The proverbs of Hannah, daughter of Jeff whose wife is Sherry, sophomore college student: for studying right and living well; for living right before your professors and before your God; for learning discipline in school, in sleep, and in Christian living; for giving reminders for the forgetful, and for those that retain; to those who feel overburdened and under-rested; for figuring out how to do college. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline” (Proverbs 1:1).
Put God first, no matter how much homework you have, or how little sleep you have had in the last week. Remember that He alone is God, that has saved you and overcome the world.
And don’t let your computer or phone be your god, taking up all your time; to what avail is wasting time? If you worship the internet, where does that get you? Certainly it gets you no farther in life or school, and makes you more exhausted to boot. Give up spare time to God, because He will reward those who love Him and give of themselves. Remember to go to church, and connect with people there. Live in covenant with God’s people so that you can do His will in life.
And don’t forget to rest sometimes; even God rested on the seventh day! Take a Saturday to catch up on some sleep so that you can do better on days with less opportunity to rest.
Remember what your mother told you, and don’t forget what dad said to you when you still lived at home. Use their wisdom in the places where yours hasn’t begun; believe them when they tell you not to make the same mistakes. God will use their wisdom to bless you and to make your life fruitful!
Don’t get so mad you could kill anyone, and certainly don’t actually kill anyone. Keeping your anger under control leads to being a well-balanced person.
Don’t date around too much, keep your love and affection for the one God has for you. When He shows him to you, be true to him, and pray for him. What a blessing to find God’s match!
Don’t cheat on homework or tests, and don’t take your roommate’s clothes without asking. Life will be a lot easier and more straightforward if you steer clear of these things.
Don’t spread rumors about your next-door neighbors, and don’t make things up about your roommate. You have to live with them, so why set yourself up as an enemy?
And don’t wish your clothes were as cute as your roommate’s or your shoes as new as your suite mate’s. You are richly blessed, and should be thankful for what you have.
Give thanks in all things, and so be at peace with your God.

...certainly don't actually kill anyone is my personal favorite...
